GardePro trail cameras compared: models, power and solar panels
Short answer: all current GardePro cameras share a 0.1 s trigger, a 120° three-sensor PIR, adaptive 940 nm no-glow infrared with about 30 m range, a 70° lens and a 2-year warranty. They differ in connectivity (SD only, Wi-Fi on site or 4G), live view, GPS, image sensor and power. For most 4G users the X60P Pro Max Live is the all-rounder; the X50 suits AA power and frequent moves; the X70 Pro and X80 Pro add GPS. For solar, match the panel to the power type: SP300 or SP1000 for Li-ion cameras, SP350 or SP1100 for AA cameras.
GardePro builds a compact range, and the models are easy to confuse because they share so much. This guide sets out what is the same across the range, what actually differs, which model fits which job, and how to power each one for long periods in the field, from AA batteries to Li-ion, 12 V mains and solar panels. Every specification here comes from the product pages in our shop; if a detail is not listed there, we do not claim it.

1. What every current GardePro camera has in common
- 0.1 s trigger with three PIR sensors covering about 120° (about 60° centre and 2 × 30° sides). The side sensors wake the camera before the animal reaches the centre of the frame. GardePro specifies a PIR range of about 27 m at temperatures below 25 °C.
- Adaptive 940 nm no-glow infrared with a range of about 30 m: invisible to game and people, and adjusted to distance so close animals are not overexposed.
- 70° lens with automatic IR-cut filter.
- Video from 3 seconds to 5 minutes with sound.
- IP66 housing, operating from −20 °C to +60 °C.
- 2-year warranty.
The 4G models add an unlocked SIM slot (card not included), the free GardePro app with free cloud storage, video sending and HD requests, Lite Video preview at about 2 frames per second, resume after interrupted uploads, over-the-air updates and a camera password.
2. The range at a glance

| A60 | none (SD card) | – | – | 8× AA, DC 12 V | 64 MP / 4K (Sony Starvis) |
As we explain in our guide on how to choose a trail camera, the megapixel figure is the least important line in this table. Connectivity, live view, GPS and power decide which model suits you.
3. The models one by one
GardePro X50: 4G on AA batteries

The X50 triggers on movement, records 48 MP photos or 1296p video with sound and sends them to the app over 4G. It runs on 8× AA batteries that you can swap in seconds, or on external 12 V. It has no live view. Choose it when you want photos and video on your phone and move the camera between sites often.
GardePro X60P: 4G with a rechargeable battery
The X60P has the same image and 4G features as the X50 but runs on an included 8000 mAh Li-ion battery, recharged via USB-C or kept topped up through the 12 V DC socket with a solar panel. It has no live view. It suits fixed sites where you would rather recharge than buy batteries.
GardePro’s own overview of the X60P:
GardePro X60P Pro Max Live: the all-rounder
The X60P Pro Max Live is the live-view edition of the X60P. It adds live view on demand in the app, and comes with the 8000 mAh Li-ion battery and a built-in 32 GB card. It is our best-selling GardePro and the model we recommend to most 4G users. Live view runs only when you start it, so it is not a replacement for a permanently streaming security camera.
GardePro X70 Pro GPS Live: live view plus GPS

The X70 Pro adds a built-in GPS module that reports the camera’s position to the app every 1, 3 or 7 days, so you find each camera quickly on a large area and notice if one is moved. It runs on a replaceable 7800 mAh Li-ion battery, charged via USB-C or through the 12 V / 1 A DC socket, and has a 2.4″ colour screen for setup.
GardePro X70 3.0 Ultra: on-camera AI recognition
The X70 3.0 Ultra is currently a pre-order. It analyses each capture on the camera itself, recognises animals and people, and with Smart Capture sends over 4G only the species you selected; everything else stays on the SD card. It records 64 MP photos and 4K video with H.265 compression, adds live view and GPS, and runs on an included 17500 mAh lithium battery.

GardePro X80 Pro GPS Live: maximum image detail
The X80 Pro uses a Sony Starvis sensor for 64 MP photos and 4K UHD video, with live view and GPS. Unlike the X60P and X70 Pro, it runs on 8× AA batteries, with the option of external 12 V or solar power. Choose it when image detail matters most and you prefer swappable AA cells.
GardePro A60 and A80: no SIM, no running costs
The A60 records to the SD card and has a colour screen; the A80 WiFi adds on-site Wi-Fi so you can view and download captures with your phone near the camera. Both use a Sony Starvis sensor for 64 MP photos and 4K video, run on 8× AA or 12 V, and need no SIM or subscription. Remember that trail camera Wi-Fi is a short-range link on site, not a connection to your home network.
4. Which model for which job
| Your situation | Our suggestion |
|---|---|
| One 4G camera for game and occasional security, want to look in live | X60P Pro Max Live |
| Move the camera often, prefer AA batteries, no live view needed | X50 |
| Fixed site, rechargeable battery, no live view needed | X60P |
| Several cameras over a large area, want to know where each one is | X70 Pro GPS Live or X80 Pro GPS Live |
| Maximum image detail with live view | X80 Pro GPS Live |
| Busy site, want alerts only for selected species | X70 3.0 Ultra (pre-order) |
| No mobile signal or no running costs wanted | A60 or A80 WiFi |
For 4G models, check the mobile signal at the site first. Our guide to 4G trail cameras and SIM cards in the EU explains how.
5. Powering a GardePro camera
How long a camera runs depends on the number of triggers, video use, how much it sends and, for 4G models, the signal strength and how often you open live view. The power type decides your options.
AA batteries
The X50, X80 Pro, A60 and A80 take 8× AA cells (not included). They are fast to swap in the field. Cheap alkaline or NiMH cells can lose voltage sharply, especially in the cold, and the PIR, infrared or image sensor may misbehave as a result, so use fresh quality cells.
Li-ion
The X60P and X60P Pro Max Live run on the 8000 mAh Li-ion battery, the X70 Pro on a 7800 mAh Li-ion battery. Lithium batteries hold their voltage better than cheap AA cells, so PIR and infrared work reliably in the cold. For the X60P models, the GardePro L800D is a spare 8000 mAh / 29.6 Wh battery that charges via USB-C: keep a charged one with you and swap it on your next visit.

12 V mains
Near a barn, a gate or a yard, the GardePro 12 V adapter powers the camera from EU mains (220 V) through the standard 5.5 × 2.1 mm DC socket, with a 4 m cable. No more battery changes at fixed sites.
6. Solar: matching the panel to the camera
The key rule: a camera with its own Li-ion battery needs a panel without a battery, which charges the battery inside the camera. An AA camera needs a panel with a built-in battery, because AA cells must not be charged directly; the panel stores energy and powers the camera from its own battery, with the AA cells staying in as a backup.
| Panel | For cameras | Built-in battery | Output | Panel area |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SP300 | Li-ion (e.g. X60P) | none | approx. 3.5 W / 6.6 V | 259 cm² |
| SP1000 | Li-ion | none | 10 W / 6.6 V / 1.52 A | 666.5 cm² |
| SP350 | AA (e.g. X50, A60) | 5200 mAh | 6 / 9 / 12 V switchable, max. approx. 12 W | 259 cm² |
| SP1100 (pre-order) | AA (e.g. X50, X80 Pro, A80, A60) | 10400 mAh / 38.48 Wh | 6 / 9 / 12 V selectable, max. 27 W | 666.5 cm² |
- SP300: compact, about 3.9 m cable, IP65, 1/4-20 thread. Enough to keep a Li-ion camera topped up at a site with reasonable sun.
- SP1000: the most powerful option for Li-ion cameras. A light-dispersing surface layer helps it collect more energy when the sun is low or the panel cannot face it directly, useful in woodland and in winter. 4 m cable, IP65.
- SP350: for AA models. The built-in 5200 mAh battery keeps the camera running at night and in poor weather; output switchable between 6, 9 and 12 V, two DC plugs (5.5 × 2.1 mm and 4.0 × 1.7 mm), about 3.9 m cable.
- SP1100: the largest GardePro panel with a built-in battery, about 2.5 times the panel area and twice the battery capacity of the SP350, with USB-C PD charging for the panel’s battery when there is too little sun. According to GardePro, lithium-battery cameras can use it only from hardware version V8.2.x. It is a pre-order, expected in early November.

GardePro’s video shows how the SP350 is connected and used:
Placing the panel
The panel does not have to sit right next to the camera. Mount it on its cable in the sunniest spot nearby while the camera stays in the shade facing north or south, which also reduces false triggers. Set the voltage on switchable panels according to your camera’s manual, and check the plug before connecting. Placement tips for the camera itself are in our guide on where to place a trail camera.
