Description

Pre-order – expected to arrive in early November. Limited quantity.

Symbolic image: the photos show the GardePro SP1000, which has the same panel size.

The largest GardePro solar panel with a built-in battery

The GardePro SP1100 is made for trail cameras that run on AA batteries. During the day the panel charges its own built-in 10400 mAh lithium battery (38.48 Wh), and the camera draws its power from that battery – at night and on cloudy days too. The AA batteries in the camera stay in place as a backup, and you change them far less often.

Key advantages

  • 666.5 cm² panel area – about 2.5 times the area of the SP350
  • Built-in 10400 mAh / 38.48 Wh battery – twice the capacity of the SP350
  • Selectable 6, 9 or 12 V output, up to 2.25 A, maximum output 27 W
  • Two camera plugs: 5.5 × 2.1 mm and 4.0 × 1.7 mm
  • USB-C charging (5–20 V, PD3.0 fast charging) when there is not enough sun
  • IP65, operates from −20 °C to +60 °C
  • Suitable for GardePro cameras that run on AA batteries

Why a built-in battery?

AA-powered cameras have no rechargeable battery of their own, so a solar panel must not charge them directly. The SP1100 stores solar energy in its own battery and powers the camera from it. Cameras with a built-in lithium battery need a panel without a battery instead (SP1000 or SP300), which charges the battery inside the camera.

Some lithium-battery cameras can also use the SP1100: according to GardePro, those with hardware version V8.2.x or newer. GardePro does not recommend it for V8.1.x, older versions and V6.x.

Connection, voltage and charging

Select 6, 9 or 12 V on the panel, depending on what your camera requires. The panel supplies up to 2.25 A at every voltage; the maximum output is 27 W (12 V / 2.25 A). Plugs in 5.5 × 2.1 mm and 4.0 × 1.7 mm are available. Check your camera’s manual for the required voltage and plug before connecting.

When there is too little sun – in winter or in dense woodland – charge the panel’s battery through its USB-C input (5–20 V) with PD3.0 fast charging. A charger is not included.

Mount the panel on a tripod or bracket with a 1/4-20 thread. The housing is rated IP65 and operates from −20 °C to +60 °C at 5–95 % humidity.

FAQ

When will the panel be available?

This is a pre-order. We expect it to arrive in early November, and quantities are limited. You can order now and we will ship as soon as it arrives.

Which cameras is the SP1100 for?

GardePro recommends it for cameras that run on AA batteries. The SP1000 and SP300 are intended for cameras with a built-in lithium battery.

Can I use it with a lithium-battery camera?

Only with some. GardePro states that cameras with hardware (H/W) version V8.2.x or newer are compatible; it does not recommend it for V8.1.x, older versions and V6.x. You will find the version in the camera information. If you are not sure, contact us.

How does it differ from the SP350?

The SP1100 has about 2.5 times the panel area (666.5 cm² instead of 259 cm²), twice the battery capacity (10400 mAh instead of 5200 mAh) and a higher maximum output (27 W instead of 12 W), so it copes better with cloudy days and winter.

How does it differ from the SP1000?

Both have the same panel area (666.5 cm²), but the SP1000 has no built-in battery and is meant for cameras with a lithium battery.

Which voltage should I choose?

The one your camera requires: 6, 9 or 12 V – check the manual or the label on the camera. The panel supplies up to 2.25 A at each voltage, with 5.5 × 2.1 mm and 4.0 × 1.7 mm plugs.

Can I charge it without sun?

Yes. Charge the panel’s battery through the USB-C input (5–20 V) with PD3.0 fast charging. A charger is not included.
